Startups in Africa have always been hard work. Not conceptually, because we have plenty of ideas and opportunities, but when it comes to raising money to make it work. However, as singer/songwriter Bob Dylan wrote so many years ago, The Times They Are A-Changin’.
Any great business is usually built on the idea of solving a customer’s problem in a unique and compelling way. And since Africa is not short of problems, the opportunities are all around us. Unfortunately, even a good business idea needs capital to get off the ground, and that’s where the trouble begins.
